Hi Nitromians,

We'd like to let people know that our skin is work that was inspired by a piece of fan art created by Frostyflytrap. I didn't realise when I'd originally launched the skin, apologies!

We thought it was a cool concept and based a skin around the idea, you can see the original fan art here.

Thanks Frostyflytrap! :)

We should be adding some avatars to the skin some time today, so be sure come back a bit later to search for them!

If you have any fan art related to Nitrome, Nitrome characters or even Nitrome music, feel free to send it in! Who knows, we may feature it in the blog, or like this piece, use it as inspiration for something on the site!

Hi Nitromians!

As you can see, we've got a brand new website skin featuring characters from our Oodlegobs and Rubble Trouble games. We call it... ...Oodle Trouble!

We really like the way the Oodlegobs are climbing up to grab hold of the helicopter.

What do you think of the new web skin and colour scheme?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Today's Pixel Love game is Caverns of IO by Merrak. The game is very addictive with it's well known control method and retro looking ASCII maps. Using your WASD keys to fire and dispatch enemy whilst using your cursor (Arrow) keys to move around the environments, you can explore different strategies when facing the enemy.

When battling with the "purple zeroes", we found that attrition was the best way to go. Let them run their energy levels low, dodge their fire then go on the offensive!

Have fun everyone, we'll bring you another Pixel Love game next week!

Hey Nitromians,

It's Friday again so we thought we'd update you with a juicy titbit of news. Our upcoming mobile game 8Bit Doves is fast approaching the end zone.

Check out our quick vine video of a level from the games last pack entitled "Nightmare". This pack also introduces one of the many new features of the game 'Boost tiles'. Which as you see make you go lightening fast - (sorry for the pun)

You may also notice in the video that the device has changed again as it is now playable in tablet form.

We have now finished making all of the levels and are currently testing on multiple devices, fixing bugs, adding a few additional sounds, and making the levels pretty.

We hope that you are as excited as we are to see another Nitrome game on your devices.

Until next week, happy gaming and have a great weekend.

Hey Nitromians,

We thought we'd share a super quick update on 8Bit Doves progress. Take a sneak peak at a level in the 2nd pack with a brand new element, moving walls... dum dum dum!

The release will include three packs in total, the second of which is called Deep Sleep. These packs will include a whole bunch of new level features as-well. (Notice the new handy sideways bed takeoff anyone?)

Anyway we didn't want to spoil too much. But we are happy to report that progress is going rather well so far.

No release date yet though before you ask ;)

There should be more news and small updates on 8Bit Doves nearer to its release.

pixellovegames.com is now live!

As you all know, we really love pixel art.

About 2 years ago, we decided to highlight the best pixel games from around the web made by other people every Monday. This formed the basis of what is now known as "Pixel Love".

We noticed some things that we wanted to change when we initially created Pixel Love.

Things we noticed and wanted to improve:

No list of games to choose from. You needed to use the search box/wiki We could only support flash games which ruled out a lot of awesome pixel content made in other formats After the games initial feature, it would be buried under blog posts and other content getting hidden from view.

We have now addressed these issues.

We are pleased to present Pixel Love Games!

You can now select games from a list directly below the game You can "heart" games You can share games You can "dim the lights" You can send us suggestions via email as to which game you think we should feature If you are a developer you can upload a game directly to the site and have us review it. You can order the games by earliest date / most hearts / most plays

Thanks for playing everyone!

Hi Nitromians!

Wow, there has been an influx of awesome in the pixel-sphere this week! With the Ghost Wheel Jam providing a great bundle of games for you all to play! From this bundle, we have picked Music for Decay by Folmer Kelly as our Pixel Love choice!

The premise is simple, you play as an orb avoiding spike blocks and nasty elements for as long as you can on this endless treadmill. The longer you last, the more points you gain. We really like the "window of invincibility" that you get when pressing the up arrow. Don't worry, it doesn't provide the player with an insta-win mechanic, it spices up the gameplay considerably.

The mechanic needs to be deployed at strategic moments whilst evading the onslaught of trap tiles. The window of safety that is provided to the player is brief enough to engage the players reaction speed and hazard perception.

Have fun everyone! We'll bring you another Pixel Love next week!

Hi Everyone!

We are currently in talks with another cdn provider. After some local testing, it looks likely that they may well be faster than the provider that we're currently using, which is great news for all of you! (you'll get to access our games and site content faster than before).

With this proposed site improvement, we'll certainly need to test it live and that is exactly what we are doing this week!

We'll possibly be testing until next Monday. So, with this week being our testing period, if you notice any problems, like slowing down of the site, error messages etc, please get in touch with us and let us know what went wrong! ( bugs@nitrome.com ).

If you DO get in touch, please let us know of your rough location in the world (USA, UK etc). Providing us with a State / County / Province might be handy for us when we actually go in to diagnosing the issues too.

This shouldn't affect us in bringing you new content, like the upcoming Pixel Love etc.

Well, wish us luck! :D

Hey Nitromian’s,

Check out our latest Vine video of the Final Ninja arena on our upcoming game Bump Battle Royale!

As the game is nearing completion we thought it might be a good idea to fill you in on some more info about it.

This is a Single or Multiplayer game (1-4 players) on either Keyboard or Touchy!

What makes this game work with multiplayer so well is that you can control your character with the use of a single button.

So how does it work? You character spins on the spot until your acceleration key is held which propels the character forward. Let go of the key and you’ll skid to a halt and spin all over again. Now this may sound simple, but with power boosts, arena traps and an onslaught of players after your hide,  it’s anything but!

The game consists of three modes.

Campaign Mode(single player only): The aim of the game is to Bump your opponents out of the area over a series of three rounds. Battle your way through Nitrome tower’s finest drivers and go for gold. Use this mode to unlock new playable characters and arenas.

Last Man Standing : Played as both multi or single player it’s everyman for himself, with the last man alive declared the winner.

Team Battle : It’s a 4 VS 4 battle setup. Play by yourself, with your friends or against... it’s your choice!

We are in the final testing stages. So this game should be knocking on your browser window soon.

Have a great weekend =D
