Hi Nitromians!
It has been a while since we gave you the last update as to what is happening with the user accounts, so today I thought I would let you know what’s currently happening with our upcoming site features. I’ll also take this opportunity to let you know why it’s taking us a little longer than originally anticipated.
We have been experimenting with our ads lately to help us strike a reasonable balance in revenue whilst not adversely affecting your gaming experience.
One of the most obvious changes included adding the ‘balloon panel’ on our game pages. We are aware that it isn’t the prettiest solution for the time being, yet it has been a relatively quick way for us to help with our ad revenue whilst not hindering the games or your game play.
We know that we’ll be able to make much better use of the space when we introduce the next major site update, accounts!
The advertising issue has taken away some time from the development of really fun stuff, like user accounts, but it was very important.
We have also got a new member on the Nitrome team, Jack, and he will be taking care of our ads, freeing up time to focus on the site update.
I’m very happy to say that we are now currently back to work on the new site update, accounts and more features!
I have attached a preview of a new avatars section that will be included in the update. You may also notice that we will be including a search bar.
That’ll make it easier to find games, news and friends! :)

The demo we promised this week is from our upcoming game Hot Air Jr!
We are really happy with the original Hot Air games and we have taken the concept of guiding your balloon through dangerous environments with your fan whilst also trying to give Hot Air Jr a nice balance in terms of difficulty.
Something we noticed in the original Hot Air games was just how unforgiving they were, so with that in mind, Hot Air Jr is being developed to give users some areas to rest and think about the obstacles ahead without always having to worry about the constant spikes! :)
We would really like to know what you all think of the game engine so far, as your feedback could help us make the game even better.
Please note that this demo arena is not a level from the final game. The arena has been created for you all to have some fun, get to know the controls and explore the game and the game engine!

Hi Nitromians!
We've just added a brand new game release to our site and one that we have never spoke of until now... it's been a bit of a secret experimental project :)
This is our very first ever game that you can actually play within the icon itself, so you don't have to go to another page to play it. For those who prefer the games bigger, you can still play the game here at full size, but we recommend checking it out within the icon on the front page for the real teeny tiny affect!
Because the game had to fit within the icon, we have had to squeeze the game into just 50x50 pixels! It was both a lot of fun and a challenge to see what we could do within this limitation.
Ok so I guess we should tell you about Gunbrick itself! You control the gun-brick, a square block that can rotate left and right. One surface on the square block has a shield and the opposite side has a gun and by orienting yourself into the correct direction, you can shoot things, block things, shunt yourself sideways and even rocket jump!
Can you make it through the 10 challenging levels and pass the devilish boss?

It has been a while since we talked about our upcoming Cave Chaos sequel so we thought we would give you a little update as well as a new little teaser shot.
This is not the game that is coming this week (stay tuned for that... a slight technical hitch has taken longer than expected to sort but we're sure to crack it soon enough) but it is now not far from being complete.
All the elements are in the game and almost all of the levels have been built so there’s not much more to do. We also wanted to give a little something to wet your appetite so check out the shot for a teaser of the games boss :)

The core control mechanic has been updated in the Cheese Dreams Demo due to some of the helpful comments we received from our fans via the Facebook page.
We have changed the way the player reacts to bouncing on slopes. This change means it should be much easier to control yourself on pivoting platforms. We have updated the demo, so why not try out the improved control mechanic and let us know your thoughts?

Well Nitromians, time for a Fri... err, Thursday update!
As many of you know, tomorrow is Good Friday! We will not be in the office tomorrow, so we thought we'd give you all a bit of an end of the week update and heads up today! We will be back to work at Nitrome Towers on Tuesday.
