Wow, you all really liked our Nitrome Jam announcement huh? Over 500 comments and counting in just two days.

We have been reading your comments and there are some really awesome suggestions for Jam themes. However some people appear to be a little confused on what we're asking for when we say “suggest a theme”. So just to make it a little clearer on what we are looking for:

-A theme is NOT a game idea. So anyone writing a paragraph suggesting what game they would like us to make is kinda missing the point, sorry! 

-Consider that MANY people are going to be tackling this theme separately so anything too specific would result in a lot of similar games.

-We aren’t looking for sequel suggestions or game ideas including our characters.

-As a rule of thumb a theme is made up or one or two words, rather than a description of something.

Some of our favourite suggestions so far are: Dreams, Reverse, Toast, Growth, Space.

Looking forward to reading some more. =)

later this week were going to be releasing a brand new icon game! It is one of a few online games that we are working on.

We haven't done one in a while and we felt it would be cool to go back to the format as it was one that we liked a lot. Having the game so small lets us experiment with some crazy ideas. Check out the preview gif :)

Hi Nitromians,

we are thrilled to announce the first ever Nitrome Game Jam! It is happening between June the 2nd and June the 6th 2014. During that time the Nitrome staff will be splitting into teams of two and making games inspired by a chosen theme for 5 days. At the end of the 5 days all work will stop and we will let you all play the games we have made. you can all then vote on a winner.

Although this is a Nitrome Jam we are open to people outside of Nitrome getting involved. You will have to be able to make a game though! We will have more information about that soon but if you are interested in getting involved then please email us to declaire your interest. 

Our plan is to let the Nitrome audience vote on the theme, but first of all we need some themes to vote on. So with that in mind please feel free to suggest some themes in the comments below. When suggesting a theme please note that were not looking for game ideas like 'sequel to Final Ninja' or 'Nitrome Smash Bros'!... Think more, Time travel, surprise or chocolate.

Today's pixel love comes in glorious ASCII form as stealth game demake G0 (Ground Zero) made by hexDecimal

We really love the way the lighting has been created in this game. We felt it essential to the sneak and hide atmosphere. The randomly generated levels make for great replay value too.

This really is the finest barebones approach to a tactical roguelike stealth game.

Phew, it’s been a rollercoaster of a week at Nitrome HQ. With our launch of Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage across Android (Finally).

A reminder that the Icebreaker LAUNCH SALE will end in a few days. So get it this weekend and grab yourself a BARGAIN before it ends.

We’ve had a lot of positive feedback on the Android and Kraken update so far, but we realise that a handful of people have been experiencing some issues.

We have fixed a crash at the start of the game. It was an Issue that was affecting devices running Android 2.3.x. We are also looking into any other problems people have reported including a crash on iPad 1. An update will be uploaded as soon as we have a fix.

Apologies for those of you patiently waiting in the wings for the Kindle release. We are still having some issues with their store, but rest assured we are doing our best to get it to you ASAP.

Next week we’ll update you with all the latest Icebreaker news. There will be a pixelove in the usual slot... and who knows we might even have a brand new game for our website as well.

we are in the office now and we have just been onto both Google Play and the Apple App Store and hit the launch buttons. They could take a few hours to actually turn up on the store but feel free to start hammering the refresh button on your store of choice if you want to be first :)

we let our friends at Pocket Gamer have an advanced play of Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage on Android which included the new Kraken level pack and they wrote up some impressions: 

"Given that I lost track of time and spent longer playing the forthcoming level pack for the Gold Award-winning Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage than I intended, I'd say it's pretty darn good."

Today we have got a great Pixel Love game for you to check out, The Valley Rule by Ryan Carag and Bill Kiley.

The game has both a very well crafted ambient soundscape with highly polished pixel artwork.

The gameplay and level structure is really well put together. The only down side of this game is that we'd love to have more of it, but for a game that was made in 72 hours (We are astonished at the level of finish this game has for the time scale it was created in), we think this is a real gem.

Hi Nitromians, 

with only 5 more days to go we felt it was a good time to start a countdown for the Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage android release! We hope you are all excited... it has been a lot of hard work but we hope you will agree it was worth it.

It will also be the launch day for the Kraken update on iOS (and yes it is in the Android build too). Anyone who has an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that has not already downloaded the game can do so here.

So look to the side panel and count down with us for the release next Wednesday!

We know we are being very Icebreaker news heavy at the moment so for anyone not as into Icebreaker (shame on you!) we have lots of other interesting things that we have been working on too including new flash games and we'll start sharing once we get Icebreaker out :)

For those of you who haven’t noticed, we have just released a BRAND NEW SKIN!

We thought that our last skin was a little out dated, being a winter theme and all. So we have made a brand new Ditto based background for you all.

If you enjoyed playing Mega Man, we think you'll really like this one. The artwork looks fantastic and the sounds are authentic to the era, giving us some real nostalgia. Be warned, this game is really difficult! :)

Guess what we just had delivered to Nitrome Towers? Our Pocket Gamer Awards….Horray! We are all super thrilled to get our first proper award for a mobile game. They are super heavy glass based awards and look really pretty on the shelf J For those who missed the earlier post we managed to win ‘Best Casual/Puzzle Game’, ‘iOS Game of the year’ and the big one ‘Overall Game of the Year’.
