Infinity inc Pixellove!

Hey Nitromains,

I have been listening to your cries in the blog for this weeks missing Pixellove, so without further ado...

Play infiniy inc, by The Shpufa's

Infinity inc, a derelict and deadly facility. (Made for what I can only assume as some sort of sadistic test chamber).

You and your trusty disposable clones must use your grey matter and a bit of good old sacrifice to fight your way through the chambers.

***WARNING!*** this one does contain quite a few low rez red pixels and some crude humour. You have been warned, anyone who is afraid of red squares then this is not for you!

A polished experience with solid atmospheric effects, sound and some neat puzzle makes this a worthy addition to Pixellove.

Pixelove, Serious Dave!

Hey Nitromians,

Todays pixelove is Serious Dave by developers 08--n7.r6-79.84 and Stranger087 (I know, catchy names huh!)

The story goes like this. Hell Bunny has kidnapped all of the innocent babies and is using them to open up an evil portal.

Its Your task, a bearded guy called Dave to save the day.

Serious Dave is an Endless runner with a difference. The difference being the sheer amount of depth and additional content outside of the usual 'reach as far as you can'.

Varied Quests and challenges, Achievements, Unlockable content, Upgrades, Cut-scenes and even levels that add objectives the second and third time around.

There is a lot to love here and if you're a fan of retro pixelart and chip tunes then you'll have a blast with this.

Pixel Love Acid Factory!

Hey Nitromians,

I have had a MEGA list of things to catch up on since returning from my holiday, meaning Mondays Pixelove slightly later than usual, apologies.

This week’s Pixelove shunts us WAAAY back to 2006, ah those were the good old days of Browser gaming.

Acid Factory by Miniclip. There has been a huge chemical leak at the factory and its up to our hero Harry to clean it up. Unfortunately for him there is a whole bunch of traps, mutants and well... ACID to deal with in the process!

Fun fact! the artwork for this game was commissioned by Miniclip from the ever so talented artist Gary J Lucken (aka Army of Trolls). Back in the day I really used to stare at his art and drool. Anyway, let me know what you think of Acid Factory in the comments below.

Super Late Pixel Love!

With Jon on holiday and a busy week finishing off things for Beneath the Lighthouse I totally forgot it was my responcibility to make sure we had a Pixel Love game launched! Doh! Ohe well better late than never!

Today/Mondays pixel love is/was supposed to be 'Tap Heros'. TBH I have no idea what it is about as Jon picked it before he left for holiday. I'm sure it's very good though so do click the link and give it a play!

It is by a studio called Varagtp so props to them if you like it!

Puppy Racing

Todays Pixel Love pick is Puppy Racing and there is an interesting Nitrome related link to this game. The game is more than a bit old and back when it was made Nitrome was still relatively new so we often did some bits of work on the side of the games we did at Nitrome. One of those bits of work was for this game. Mat and Jon worked on the rotations for some of the racers in the game. To be clear we did not design the game...that was someone else...just a little sprite work. Still it's an interesting fact that we thougth you might like to know :)

The game itself is a Mario Kart clone that uses the Mode 7 type effect that so many games addopted at one point in flash before full 3d became possible at realistic speeds. It's no Mario Kart but it has a certain charm and we felt the link to Nitrome made it a great candidate for Pixel Love.

Join us next week for another Pixel Love and do feel free as always to send in your suggestions. Please note we can't always feature them much as we would like because games can be URL locked and we respect that decission if the creator does not want the game spread.

pixellove: A stroll in space!

Today's Pixelove game is called A Stroll in Space!

by Big Dino games.

In it you play as a cute lil astro dude/dudette who is rudely awoken by a HUGE space squid... sounds like our type of game already!

You explore the space station avoiding its many hazards and space nasties until you unlock 'the monkey' (yes that's right, I said monkey!). After which you will have use of the awe defying red button which does some rather neat things to gravity.

This game has lots of lovely touches (especially the mid-ground and foreground animations). It fits in with the types of browser games we love to look at and play. So much so infact that you might even be mistaken at first glance that its one of our very own.

Todays pixelove is Birdy fruit by the talented pixelpushing team Fliptic.

It's a relatively simple concept in which you must flap your avian friends wings to guide him to safety. The catch is that you only have control of the altitude but not the direction making the game a whole lot trickier. oh yeah and theres a whole buch of traps, enemies and fruit in there too!

If anybody's got a cool game recommendation for a future Pixelove feature then please shout it out in the comments below. (preferably a Flash based pixelart based game)

New Pixellove game Through!

Hey Nitromians,

We have just released a brand new Pixelove called Through by Goshki (Originally made for the #gbjam4 competition). What may appear at first to be a simple platformer soon becomes something entirely different (after the first few tutorial levels that is!). Levels are literally flipped around on there heads as you discover you can 'push' through walls, thus allowing you to traverse unexplored platforms.

The graphics on this one may be simple, but we are a sucker for a interesting mechanic making this a worthy addition to our Pixelove series.

Apologies for missing the usual pixelove Mondays guys and gals. It was a Bank holiday (public holiday) here in the UK yesterday.

Some of you may be aware that we are still without a web developer at the moment, which increases everyone's workload a fair bit (*sob*). Well we are still looking and are hopeful that we will find the right candidate for the role given time.

Until then please bear with us on the lack of website updates. We are aware that some of you are a little bit fruistrated with the lack of web releases but we are really trying our very best.

We are however as busy as ever (currently working on 4 games and a game update!) and are dying to show you what we've been working on. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming game Beneith the lighthouse aswell as a slight (well quite big) change of plan for one of our other releases.

Pixellove Duke Dashington!

Hey Nitromians,

This weeks pixellove game is Duke Dashington by the extremely talented Jussi Simpanen over at Adventure islands.

Join our eentrapped explorer Duke in his quest through trap filled Temples. You have 10 seconds to escape each room and only your reflexes and dashing ability to save you from impending doom.

We'll... What are you waiting for get to work old bean, Tally-Ho!!!

p.s I've still been trying to wrap my head around how the Pixelove backend works for uploading, apologies again for the slight delay.

Pixellove Inversia!

Today's (we'll cough cough... yesterdays) Pixel love is called Inversia by Gabriel Robertson.

You are a lone guy trapped in an alien hostile environment. Your captors, a strange alien race label you as a living weapon!

Using your new found special abilities of gravity control you must try to escape your tormentors.

This game may remind some of you of the rather famous indie title VVVVV. Although it has the same mechanic there is much to like about the world atmosphere and new traps in Inversia. Tight controls have been nailed and we are sure that you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Why Pixellove so late?

Hey nitromians,

Phew it's been a long week here at Nitrome HQ.

Some of our more keen eyed followers may have noticed that we have missed the last few Pixelove game releases.

To fill you in on the unfortunate situation we are still looking for a somebody to fill in our web role at Nitrome. This has led to a slip in all things website related whilst we try to absorb the weekly tasks into our own. Through no fault of any party there has been a change of plan and we are now looking for a new web developer.

This weeks (rather late) Pixelove game is Tough Love Machine by Andrew Morrish.

You take control of a long armed gloved machine and try to connect the two hearts on each stage. The neat sound, bright zingy retro graphics and head scratching puzzles makes this a fine addition to our pixelove catalogue.

We should be bringing you a Pixelove next week (fingers and toes crossed) ;)

Retro Runners is an endless runner in which you need to use your acrobatic cybernetic skills to traverse through a gauntlet of blocks, bats, boulders and robots.

This is a very difficult game that gives you a enormous sense of accomplishment when you manage to combo through three or more obstacles.

The music is very frantic. The main draw for me though was the pixel art design. Also, you play as a character that fondly reminded me of Robocop!

Melee Man is this weeks Pixel Love game!

This platformer was a wonderful little game created by The Village BlackSmith.

The game tasks you with bouncing off of cannon balls, enemies heads and more to make your way through some very clever and difficult puzzles / boss fights.

The Village Blacksmith brings a unique style of Pixel Art that we really enjoy and David vs Goliath beings another great soundtrack!

Play Fathom, an awesome platformer created by Joe Williamson.

Apologies first and foremost for not getting a Pixel Love game featured yesterday, I accidentally set up the date as Tuesday (being today). We had a bank holiday Monday it I got slightly confused!

This game is a real gem. The overall feel of this one is exceptionally crafted! Explore the environment whilst controlling bullets to evade getting hit!

The music is also something to admire. It fits seamlessly with the game's universe and aesthetic adding to the immersive fabric of Fathom.
