Colour Blind Preview!

Hey Nitromians!

Last week we said that we would bring you an update so we decided that we would show you a teaser of one of our upcoming projects Colour Blind!

In the game you play as a colour blind eyeball who must rescue his girlfriend from the evil pirate dust clouds (yeah, wierd right?). The game features a unique colour changing mechanic that we won't spoil for you just yet, So until then enjoy the screen shot. Take a close look, can you figure out what the game might be about?

Hi Nitromians!

We've got a bit of a treat for you all today!

This week, we thought we'd show you a teaser screensho t of one of our latest upcoming games.

It's currently very close to being finished and we thought we'd show you some artwork and find out what you all think of it!

Super Stock Take is set in a storage warehouse where items for Nitrome games are stored. You play as the chimp that has to take on the laborious and often hazardous tasks set by the Nitrome Boss.

Test Subject Complete is coming...

Hello all of you lovely peeps!

We thought we should show you some more of what we've been up to with our favourite Blue Enzyme.

For those of you who managed to complete Test Subject Green, you will have seen that the game ended with Blue in a new suit. Well here’s an in-game shot of Blue in said mech suit. The observant amongst you may notice that Blue is upside down! Oh yes, that’s not a mistake.

You’ll also notice that one of Dr Nastidious’ soldiers is messing with Blue, dropping orange goo into the test chamber… no good can come from this… can it?!

Test Subject Complete - Preview!

If you only knew the amount of emails we’ve received regarding this game!

We know it’s been a while but we are finally making the third and final instalment to our Test Subject series – Test Subject Complete.

We don’t want to give too much away just yet but you should know we are wrapping up the story… it’s really good!!!

We held off making this game because we knew it was going to be a big job to do everything we wanted. For now we don’t want to give away any spoilers, however rest assured you will get to play in the new suit, find out what happened to the professor and find out why you were being tested in the first place.

So why don’t you re-familiarise yourself with the Test Subject story and play Test Subject Blue and then Test Subject Green.

We will be giving more info on Test Subject Complete in the run up to its release… until then happy gaming!

Hi Everyone,

Do you remember us saying that we are currently working hard to bring you all our next winter game?

Well we thought we'd whet your appetite with a little preview screenshot...
...It's gonna be Bad Ice Cream 2!

You might also notice the extra ice creams in the shot. That's right! It's gonna be Touchy's second multiplayer game!

As we are adding four players, I guess that means that we need more flavours! Can you say mint choc-chip?

Swindler 2 Preview

Hello Nitromians,

Today we have launched a teaser video for our soon to be released addition to the Nitrome game catalogue. Swindler 2 is the sequel to one of this year’s greatest hits.

This new game introduces mechanics that turn our little green dangler on it’s head… literally! This is our first brand new game that will launch with Touchy as a controller option. This is by far the best way to enjoy this rolling action puzzler.

We’ll keep you updated on all things Swindler related but for now check out the video to see what it’s all about!

Cave Chaos 2 Update Info!

It has been a while since we talked about our upcoming Cave Chaos sequel so we thought we would give you a little update as well as a new little teaser shot.

This is not the game that is coming this week (stay tuned for that... a slight technical hitch has taken longer than expected to sort but we're sure to crack it soon enough) but it is now not far from being complete.

All the elements are in the game and almost all of the levels have been built so there’s not much more to do. We also wanted to give a little something to wet your appetite so check out the shot for a teaser of the games boss :)

Last week, we let you know that we were creating a follow-up to one of Nitrome’s earliest creations.

Lockehorn 2 Player Preview!

Great news on the horizon for Lockehorn fans!

We have been working on a significant update for the game which offers a robust 2 Player versus game mode. Basically, if you look at what we did with Test Subject Arena, we will be offering something with just as much if not more substance but this time within the actual Lockehorn game.

The game will also contain an all new ‘easy mode’ and some small bug fixes. This is something that we would have liked to have included in the original release, but due to it being a winter game and that ideally tying to Christmas, it unfortunately had to be released. We are thrilled that the game is doing well enough that we are now able to add in more content. Thanks for all that keep playing the game!

New Site Features Coming Soon!

Hi Nitromians!

We are very excited to reveal just what’s going to be appearing under that ‘Coming Soon’ panel in the top right hand corner of our site. As has been suspected and requested by many people, we are going to have a new login system for the site!

This is going to be a completely optional feature. If you choose not to use it you will be able to play the games as you could before but we will be introducing (both at launch and going forward) tons of cool new features made possible through logging in!

You may also notice that we have a new search bar coming to the site. This too has been a highly requested feature for a while that we will be happy to deliver :)

It has been no small undertaking to bring these features to life in a site as established as Nitrome. A lot of ground work has had to be done and has caused us to take longer than initially planned. Hopefully at launch you will appreciate the effort that has been made and will be able to enjoy a more stable and feature rich Nitrome site in the future.

We will be giving a full lowdown on what to expect in the Nitrome 2.1 update next week so stay tuned!

Nitrome Must Die - Scoring System

Hi Nitromians,

This will with any luck be our final update before the release of Nitrome Must Die. In this update we wanted to give you a brief glimpse of the scoring system for the game and explain how it works and why we hope it will add replay value to the game. At the end of each level you get a score based on the number of coins you collected from the enemies you killed. You are then given the choice to bank that score or gamble it in exchange for a multiplier on future score should they continue to not lose a level. The multiplier increases by 1 each time you gamble without banking. If you lose a level any unbanked score is wiped out so it is about playing it safe or risking it all. …….it’s a little bit like the weakest link TV show.

Let’s run through two examples to show the potential benefit of risking that score for multipliers.

Playing Safe:
Floor 1 the player banks their score of 100…total banked score: 100, Unbanked Score: 0, Multiplier x0

Floor 2 the player banks their score of 100…total banked score: 200, Unbanked Score: 0, Multiplier x0

Floor 3 the player banks their score of 100…total banked score: 300, Unbanked Score: 0, Multiplier x0

At this point they have 300 points in total banked score.

Gambling with success:
Floor 1 the player gambles their score of 100… total banked score: 0, Unbanked Score: 100, Multiplier x1

Floor 2 the player gambles their score of 100… total banked score: 0, Unbanked Score: 200, Multiplier x2

Floor 3 the player banks their score of 100… total banked score (before the multiplier): 300, Unbanked Score: 0, Multiplier x3

At this point they have 900 points (300 x 3 because of the multiplier bonus) in total banked score.
