Hello fans,
It's been a while to say the least! Since our last blog we're proud to say we've released 4 games... yes you heard it right! Squawk, Temple Glider, Sky Serpents and Enemy 585. Apologies for the lack of blog updates of late, we have been incredibly busy moving office and working on an update for the Nitrome website... more to come on that. We hope you have enjoyed playing our latest efforts. You'll be pleased to know that we have much more to come!
So whilst designing and programming, all of us at Nitrome have doubled up as removal men! We're all happy to say that we have moved to a fantastic new office in the center of London. Here Nitrome can grow to our heart's content.
The office move is just the beginning... our website is now under reconstruction, this means we will be able to bring you new exciting features and content in the future. We have loads of ideas that we want to implement, so our new web developer has certainly got his hands full! But it does mean that we will be able to realise many of your requests for the website.
We've been sent a selection of Nitrome-inspired lego characters and videos recently and we thought we would share them with you!
Michael sent in the following pictures of some characters from Hot Air 2 and Flipside:
Octoboss
Baron Von Blimp
Big Mouth
Big Daddy
Pink Balloon
Flipside Car
Raphy sent in this picture of one of the rabbits from Droplets again made with lego bricks:
Droplet Rabbit
And finally Joseph has made an epic movie showing his interpretation of the Final Ninja story (if it was made in lego!):
Lego Final Ninja Trailer
Lego Final Ninja Part 1
Lego Final Ninja Part 2
Lego Final Ninja Part 3
Thanks for sending these in!
You can now find Nitrome on Facebook. We will be using this to send updates about our games and other Nitrome-related news. You may also post comments and suggestions for Nitrome here too. We of course appreciate all of your feedback and this is another way to let us know what you think about the games and get in touch with your ideas. If it is popular we will add more features! Click here for the Nitrome page on Facebook.
Anyway I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and we will be back with another set of levels for Icebreaker: The Gathering on the 4th of January!
Did anyone ever wonder what Double Edged would look like if it was mixed with the movie "300"? Well Maciek obviously did as you can see from this picture:
Double Edged - 300
Maciek also sent in a new idea/image for our Ice Breaker game:
Ice Breaker: Clan of the Raven
Also this month we have been sent an image of a Nitrome Monopoly board game by Chalsey which we think looks much more interesting than the normal version of the game!
Also after seeing the clay Toxic model by Conal that we featured in the blog back in March, Jenny has created a Toxic Claymation animation showing the yellow guy from Toxic battling with a lot of green Toxic goo! We would love to show you this video but the filesize was too large to feature on the website (We can feature YouTube videos in the blog now though.... more details coming soon).
Eran sent in a picture of one of the Square Meal trolls that he made out of wax:
Square Meal Wax
That must have taken a while to make!
Finally, Ben was so inspired by Twin Shot 2 that he has written a poem dedicated to the Pink Cat! You can read Ode to a pink cat here.
Thanks to everybody who sent things in! We will have more soon!
We got a package delivered to the office last week containing a DVD called "Nitrome: The Movie". It was sent in to us by Maciej who has hand animated and built a 20 minute long story about some characters from the Nitrome games who go on a mission to rescue the rest of the residents from Nitrome City after they are captured by the evil Baron Von Blimp!
You can see some screenshots from the movie here:
Nitrome Movie 1
Nitrome Movie 2
Nitrome Movie 3
Unfortunately we weren't able to put the movie on the blog because the filesize was too large to put on our web server.... However we thought this deserved its own blog post as Maciej obviously put a lot of effort into making the movie!
We thought we would show you some more of the creations that people have been sending in to us.
First of all we have to give a huge shout out to Adam of Cheesy Productions who has been making a lot of videos about us on YouTube. He has posted video reviews of 39 of our games so far and even shown how to play some our games using a joystick and a steering wheel plugged into his computer! We didn't even know that was possible!
There are a couple of new nitrome-themed comics:
Nitromee comic by Kim B
Various Nitrome comics by MJ Hunt
...and some more artwork:
Final Ninja by micro-bullet
Nitrome in vector by Giorgos93
Nitrome pixel art by Simon
Finally the image you can see here is a model of the guy from Toxic made out of clay! It was sent in to us by Conal.
Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work!
You have been busy... we have received a lot of Nitrome-themed comics sent in by our website visitors. Here are the latest four:
Frost Bite comicby Joseph
Cheese Dreams comicby Tim
Square Meal/Toxic comicby Julieta
Mutiny comicby unknown
Thank-you for sending these in! We appreciate the effort that everyone has gone to!
It's not just comics that people send in. Take a look at this Nitrome Boardgame sent in by Tom, which he made with his two brothers. It's all hand drawn and apparently it took them 2 months to make!! Now that's dedication!
There are some really great illustrations based around a couple of our games here:
Jack Frost Monsters 3 by Indigo 1928
Mountain Climber by Morror
And finally... Emortin (isn't that nitrome backwards?!) has been making some amazing creatures using the videogame Spore - some of which have been based around characters from Nitrome games:
Hot Air creature
Frost Bite 2 creature
Again thanks to everyone for sharing thse with us!
