ihavebigwilly CAVE CHAOS 2 REVIEW The first cave chaos was a classic that fans look back on as a nostalgic and revered predecessor. Now with the release of cave chaos 2, will the sequel live up to the hype? Find out in this completely extensive review, on IGN.com.

ihavebigwilly First off, is the graphics. While the image resolution has certainly improved from the last, I found it to be much less appealing than the first. The overall contrast and lighting design is vastly inferior, and the increased detail of the foreground and background throughout the levels falls short from the gorgeous aesthetics grew used to in the first. The fact that the colours have been made much more stark from the background is really something true fans will look down about – despite the technical upgrade. SCORE : 2/5

ihavebigwilly Now, the sound design. I have my criticisms for this game, and sound design does not escape such judgement. I fondly remember the feelings of excitement and absolute lack of order incited by the masterfully crafted soundtrack in the first game. It distinctly crossed that barrier that seperates real music from video game music, and I would listen to it anyday. However, the new soundtrack somewhat falls short and is strange and off putting. It seems that the devs were going for a horror or mysterious vibe, and it fails to create the same drama and chaos the music achieved in the first game. SCORE 2/5

ihavebigwilly After sound, comes the gameplay. This is where Cave Chaos’ successor really falls flat. The level of mechanical challenge and difficulty was set at a perfect balance in the first game – just hard enough to frustrate you, but fair to keep players coming back. Cave Chaos 2 was short in its playtime and far too easy; needless to say, I definitely beat it before 11. The new mechanics are not up to the standard I would expect from the franchise – double jumps are far too clunky, the new array of monsters provide simply no challenge and I found myself angered at how many needless and unfair deaths I faced throughout my playthrough. Being brutally honest, it was disappointing on all fronts. SCORE 1/5
