We have found a great piece of fan art that we really want to highlight. Maybe not one for the squeamish, a hyper realistic style piece of Dangle fan art created by a Nitromian aptly named "CartoonSpider"!

We have received some incredible "demake" fanart by a Nitromian known as OneMoreTurn. He has taken some of our most beloved Nitrome games and recreated them in the tiny 50 by 50 icon game format!

Hey Nitromians,

We have been so busy lately with the release of all our recent and upcoming web and mobile games that we haven't really had a chance to post any of the great fan-art we have been receiving.

Carolina Chicarelli has been creating LOTS of truly amazing nitrome art including all of her favourite characters and franchises. Check them out via the links below over on Deviant art.

All my fav nitrome games - We really do absolutely love this. From Smokey bacon ice-cream eating his favourite snack (in mid air non the less). To the test Subject standoff between arch enemies Green and Blue.

Chisel character set - Fun fact, Jon who designed the Chisel series liked this so much that he has temporarily used it as his twitter banner.

Sky Serpents

We try not to feature so much art from the same person. But as you can see the Sky Serpents fan art from Saugandh Nakkarike (aka razor) is just simply so outstanding we couldn't resist.

Hi Nitromians,

We'd like to let people know that our skin is work that was inspired by a piece of fan art created by Frostyflytrap. I didn't realise when I'd originally launched the skin, apologies!

We thought it was a cool concept and based a skin around the idea, you can see the original fan art here.

We have just had a really cool piece of fan art made for our upcoming game Bump Battle Royale. It was sent to use by Saugandh Nakkarike over on Facebook.

So you all REALLY liked Ditto huh! The sheer amount of ditto fan art we have seen so far has been really awesome.

First off, is this lovely anime styled piece by Nitzumi over on Deviant art.

There has also been some really nice Ditto fan-fiction written by Random-StoryKeeper over on Deviant art. And also another great written piece by Plasmaster over on the Nitrome wiki. Be sure to give them both a read when you have a spare few minutes.

If you have no idea what they are talking about, then it’s time that you completed Ditto and see what the fuss is all about.

We have just seen some awesome fanart made by Shuey187 over on Youtube. The video is taken from a Tetris game where the Cuboy Icon slowly materializes from the lines of tetronimoes. We are really impressed with the idea, thanks for the effort in doing this piece!

Square Meal Fan Editor

Hi Nitromians,

I don't mean to keep posting every day any more but we do seem to have a lot of noteworthy events to get out there...so erm I still am...but it will stop soon I promise!

Today we have a new fan made project that we became aware of over the Christmas Break and it is a little special! User 'Sim' has managed to make his own level editor for our game Square Meal....impressive!

It's online here so anyone can use it to make levels but a limitation is that you can't test them without Sim manually putting them into the game. The good news is that he is doing just that and already has 50 of them! We will be interested to see what people come up with!

We have worked on two fan collaborations in the past at Nitrome...there was our Steamlands editor which spawned the Steamlands Player Pack and Skywire VIP Extended where two fans had recreated the entire game in Scratch and made an entirely new set of characters. We then worked with them to put their characters and clues into a real new addition to the game that lives on the Nitrome Website.

We are unsure yet given that players can't test levels if the quality of the levels will be sufficiently good...at the moment they seem very hard (I only got to level 3). But you guys have a habit of surprising us and if Sim is up for it and if you can make 50 good levels then Nitrome would be open to launching the levels as an official player pack.

So challenge set....lets see what you do :)

Skin Recolouring Fan Art!

Happy New Year Nitromians!

we are not yet back in the office but we thought it would be good to use the time to cover some of the pixel art we have missed!

we always love it when fans come up with something a little different based on our work and we feel this qualifies nicely. Jeferson Damasceno Lima must have spent many hours adding full colour to our 2.0 Skin!You can see the full image on his account here.

Along with this he also recoloured the original classic skin that you can see here.

It raises an interesting question about our skins that we constantly struggle with at Nitrome. Do we go full colour aka the Party skin or does the busyness of that make the site ugly or harder to use? Should we go more minimal? Or is the variety of approaches the way to go letting the user just pick their preference?

Either way I think we can all agree that it is pretty cool seeing these images in full colour!

It has been a long time since we did a fan art post which is a shame because there is so much great stuff our fans produce! This one seemed appropriate as on top of being a great illustration is also for Bad Ice Cream which is currently hot topic at Nitrome following the recent launch of Bad Ice Cream 3.

This piece was created by Keoen on Deviantart and is one of many pieces of Nitrome Fan Art he has made. He has many others including some Cheese Dreams Planets, the Warlock from Mirror Image and a cute animation of the main Bunny Character from our Mega Mash Game!

Enemy 585 Fan Mod!

Now this is really cool!

Frosty Flytrap, an active member in the Nitrome community, has been playing around with the the Enemy 585 sprites making a spin off title called Happy Jump Land.

For those not in the know, Enemy 585 is themed around characters in a traditional platform game. We hinted that the world was called "Happy Jump Land" in the title and the intro to the game showed it as a platform game.

It was mostly a homage to Mario but there were a few nods to Sonic there too. This was just an animation in Enemy 585 (which is actually not a platform game) but it is this that Frosty Flytrap is trying to recreate and we'd say, judging by the video, that he's doing a pretty good job!

We did toy with the idea ourselves of showing the other side of the story but never got to it so it's great to see someone tackle it!
